Glacier Park Weekend Update: Sun Road now open to Avalanche Creek to vehicles

The park’s road crew is still clearing snow farther up the road and by week's end had reached the Oberlin Bend parking lot, less than a half mile from Logan Pass.
Also starting this weekend, the Apgar Visitor Center will be open daily. On the east side, the Looking Glass Highway 49 is fully open as well.
The hiker/biker shuttle may operate later in the season. The park will provide future updates regarding when this free shuttle begins operating.
This summer, starting June 13 through Sept. 28, sections of Going-to-the-Sun Road which are open to motor vehicles are closed to bicycle use between Logan Pass and the Apgar turnoff at the south end of Lake McDonald during the following times: eastbound (uphill) cycling between noon and 6 p.m. and westbound (downhill) cycling between 3 p.m. and 6 p.m.
Visitors can hike and bike Going-to-the-Sun Road past the gate closure on the weekends as far as the posted pedestrian closure. That was at Road Camp as of this writing, about five miles from Logan Pass.
During the week, the road crew sets the closure based on where they are working and existing hazards.
In other road news, many of the Park's secondary roads are open to vehicles, including the Cut Bank Road, The Two Medicine Road, the Many Glacier Road, the Camas Road and the Chief Mountain Road. The Canada-U.S. border crossing at Chief Mountain opens at 9 a.m. May 15.
It is open from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. through the month. From June 1 to Sept. 1 it is open 7 a.m. to 10 p.m. and through September it goes back to 9-6.
The Inside North Fork Road is open to Doverspike Meadow.
