Grapplers compete in Livingston duals
The Wildcats wrestling team placed sixth at the Class A Duals in Livingston over the weekend. Columbia Falls went 3-1 in pool play and traded blows through bracket play to make the fifth-place dual.
Columbia Falls defeated East Helena 47-36. Octavious Christianson picked up a 91-second pin at 126 pounds, while Fisher Whitaker (138), Blaise Cronk (150), Dylan Delormee (157), Kaden Kaber (165), Winslow Peters (175) and Rowdy Crump (190) all picked up pins.
Cronk’s pin occurred in 50 seconds, and Peters’ pin happened in 40.
Against Hardin, Columbia Falls fell 58-24 despite several standout performances. Bradley Beck (132), Kale Schaeffer (144), and Dylan Delorme (157) all notched pins.
Columbia Falls then followed that up with a 60-12 dual win over Stevensville/Victor. The Wildcats got pins by Blaise Cronk (150), Kaden Kaber (165), Rowdy Crump (190), and Bradley Beck (132). Kaber’s pin occurred in 33 seconds.
In bracket dual action, Columbia Falls defeated Fergus 54-24. Winslow Peters (175), Rowdy Crump (190), Bradley Beck (132), Fisher Whitaker (138), Kale Schaeffer (144), and Dylan Delorme (157) recorded falls against their opponent.
In the quarterfinals, Columbia Falls fell to Sidney/Fairview 55-15. Winslow Peters (175) picked up an 11-4 decision, while Rowdy Crump (190) notched a fall. At 157 pounds, Dylan Delorme scored a 22-second pin at 157 pounds.
That dropped Columbia Falls to the consolation bracket, where they fell to Lockwood 48-30. In that matchup, Rowdy Crump (190), Fisher Whitaker (138), Dylan Delorme (157), and Kaden Kaber (165) notched pins in the matchup.
In the fifth-place match, Columbia Falls lost to Billings Central/Joliet 63-12. Blaise Cronk (150) and Rowdy Crump (190) notched pins in under 63 seconds.
Larsen Places Third
Columbia Falls’ Samantha Larsen was third in the 145-pound bracket of the Park High Girls Invitational over the weekend in Livingston.
Larsen won her quarterfinal match, pinning Browning’s Hailey Heavyrunner in 1:51. After falling in the semifinals, Larsen won by forfeit over Columbia Falls’ Jaici Watt-Duran.
In the third-place match, she picked up a 74-second pin over Dillon’s Bailey Blake to reach the podium.
