Grapplers have a busy week, do well at Jug Beck, Hellgate

Columbia Falls wrestlers had a lot of mat time last week between a dual and tournaments.

Delorme and Crump Second At Jug Beck Classic

Columbia Falls had three placers at the Jug Beck Rocky Mountain Classic over the weekend in Missoula.

Dylan Delorme placed second at 157 pounds, notching two pins and a major decision on his way to the championship match. Rowdy Crump was also second at 190 pounds, scoring three pins and one major decision.

Winslow Peters was third in the 175-pound bracket, notching a decision and a major decision in his first two rounds before falling in the quarterfinals. In the consolation bracket, Peters posted a major decision, a decision, and a sudden death victory. In the third-place match, he scored a 10-7 sudden victory over Glacier’s Mark Ahner.

Columbia Falls Drops Dual To Ronan

Ronan and Columbia Falls went head-to-head in dual action on Thursday, January 16, falling 50-29 in Northwestern A Conference action.

Octavious Christianson pinned Ronan’s Daniel Sanchez in 52 seconds at 126 pounds, while Kale Schaeffer scored a pin in 2:26 at 144 pounds for Columbia Falls.

Winslow Peters won with a 2:44 pin over Ronan’s Dominique McKay at 175 pounds, followed up by Columbia Falls’ Rowdy Crump at 190 pounds, recording a 16-0 technical fall over Brady Hout.

Ronan recorded three pins, a decision, and a technical fall. The Chiefs also got four forfeits.

Larsen Third At Hellgate Girls Wrestling Invite

Columbia Falls Girls Wrestling had five placers at the Hellgate Girls Wrestling Invitational in Missoula over the weekend.

Samantha Larsen was third at 145 pounds, scoring four pins, including one of Lake City’s Justyce Dorn in the third-place match. At 135 pounds, Anjenoux LaChance was fourth, scoring four pins on her way through the bracket.

Kinsey Ward was fourth in the 190-pound bracket, collecting two victories on her way to the third-place match.

Vanessa Nace was sixth at 100 pounds, notching a pin in the quarterfinals. Jaelynn Nace was sixth in the 110-pound bracket, scoring a 5-1 decision and a victory in the quarterfinals.
