The Columbia Falls baseball team opened its season Saturday with a 19-0 win over Plains/Hot Springs in a game that went three innings due to the mercy rule.

Reggie Sapa led all batters with three hits on three at bats including a double. Nico Young had 3 RBIs  and double and Brady Matson had two RBIs and a single as well.

Jett Pitts got the win on the mound, going two innings with no hits and no runs, while striking out five.

Treysen Murphy pitched the third inning with no hits and a strikeout.

The Wildcats were scheduled to play Polson Tuesday after presstime and then host Whitefish Friday night at the Sapa-Johnsrud fields at 6:30 p.m. Both games are early season tests against conference foes. The Polson game was postponed due to snow.
