Franklin J. Lundstrom

Franklin J. Lundstrom, 76, went to be with his Lord and Savior Aug. 11, 2021. “Frank” was born in Malta, Montana to Frank Lundstrom and Evelyn Snider Lundstrom. The family moved to Columbia Falls in 1946. He loved growing up in the small town atmosphere and enjoyed playing kick the can, hide and seek and various childhood games in the street during evening hours. He respected that mode of play long into his life. He completed his school years in Columbia Falls and after graduation he served in the U.S. Army in Germany until his honorable discharge when he returned to Montana. He moved to Seattle, Washington area and attended college in Washington State in 1965 and worked various jobs until finally settling at the Department of Defense Navy where he worked for 37 years until retirement. A few years later he moved back to Montana where his heart called him.

Frank was an avid sports fan, he was the quarterback of his high school football team, and he played on the Glacier Twins Baseball league, basketball and in general was a good athlete. He enjoyed sightseeing, watching sports, fishing, scenic tours, camping, and watching high school football. He adored his children, they were his life. He loved his grandchildren and all his extended family. His children’s activities were important to him and he never missed one of their events. Frank was a very spiritual man, introspective, honorable, generous, and kind. He was always ready to help others. Community service was important to him and for six years he worked as an electrician for Habitat for Humanity in Washington.

He is survived by his “Earth Angel” Susan (Tina) Gordon, his children Richard Lundstrom of Portland, Oregon, Becky Morgan of Bremerton, Washington, Micah Lundstrom of Columbia Falls and Pam Lundstrom of Bremerton, Washington; his sisters Judy Schroeder of Columbia Falls, Lois Phieffier of Alliance, Nebraska, Leah Kvamme of Columbia Falls and Lori Lundstrom of Billings; grandchildren Micah Lundstrom of California, Jordan Lundstrom of Portland, Oregon, Malia Lundstrom of Tigard, Oregon and Franklin Morgan of Bremerton, Washington; numerous nieces and nephews; and also, his good friend, Dennis Allen of Columbia Falls who he shared over 60 years of friendships, and Gene Johnson of Hanesville, Washington, a friend of over 45 years.

Funeral Mass was held at St. Richard Catholic Church in Columbia Falls, Montana at 1 p.m., Thursday, Aug. 19, 2021. Columbia Mortuary in Columbia Falls is caring for the family.
