The Columbia Falls football team got back on the winning track last week, downing Corvallis 32-0 on the the road.

The Wildcats are now 5-2 on the season. They’ll face Frenchtown, who is also 5-2, in what should be a great matchup.

Against Corvallis the Cats were fantastic on defense. The Cats had three interceptions, and Corvallis had just two completions, as they held the Blue Devils to just 118 yards total offense.

Meanwhile, Cats’ quarterback Mason Peters threw for 355 yards and three touchdowns

of 20, 58 and 29 yards to Cade Morgan, Taylor Bryan and Zane McCallum, respectively.

Morgan also had a pick-six on defense in the win. Peters had a pick on defense as did Jace Duval.

The Cats also rushed for 106 yards. Peters led the way with 31 yards rushing.

“Our defense played really well,” said coach Jaxon Schweikert. “And our offense moved the ball consistently.”

Against Frenchtown, the Cats will have to run the ball between the tackles, Schweikert said. If they can do that and they can stop Frenchtown’s run,

they should win, Schweikert said.

Frenchtown is coming off a 34-14 victory over Ronan. The Cats wrap up the regular season against Butte Central next week. If they win out, they’re assured a playoff spot, but a 6-3 record should also get them into the playoffs. The top four teams in each division get a playoff spot.
