The Columbia Falls wrestling squad took eighth at the Class A state wrestling meet in Billings.

Justin Windauer took third at 113 for the MatCats, as did Brayden Stone at 182. Lucas Thacker added a fifth at 152 and Josh Bertram was sixth at 170.

Windauer pinned Mick Chagnon of Havre at 2:58 in his last match of the season after beating Braxton Scheeler of Miles City in wrestlebacks.

Zander Dean of Sidney got the best of Windauer in the semis with a pin just 35 seconds left in the match.

Thacker also made it to the semis, but Havre’s Connor Harris got the best of him with a pin at the 48-second mark. Thacker would lose to wrestlebacks to Kade Graves of Sidney, 9-0 ,but won by decision over Tyler Emineth of Laurel, 12-5.

Bertram also made it to the semis, but lost by technical fall to Nelson Crisafulli of Glendive and had a tough time in the wrestleback and the 5th-6th match, losing to Keaton Potter of Lewistown.

Stone really gutted it out. He pinned Charlie Bullcalf of Browning and then won a decision over Canyon Shope of Frenchtown in wrestlebacks and then pinned Sahkaia Wehr for the third place title in 1:42.
